For as long as I can remember I have had a passion for training and lifting weights. I lifted on my own or with a couple of buddies through my twenties and thirties. Mostly doing things we saw in magazines, or on line. Monday was chest day, Tuesday back, Wednesday legs,….you get the point. Cardio meant doing super sets on the bench. At 36 I my workouts were becoming monotonous. Going to the gym was becoming a chore. I was seeing less and less results for my efforts and was starting to ask myself internally “Is this when I become and old fat guy?” Right about that time my good friend Dan Grimes introduced me to CrossFit. I showed up on a Saturday not knowing what to expect. The warm up was more cardio than I normally did on my own in entire week. It was a partner WOD with a bunch of movements that worked my body in ways that it had never been worked before. 30 minutes later, laying on the floor in a puddle of sweat I was hooked and haven’t looked back since. I am now 38 years old, down 35lbs from when I started and in the best shape of my adult life.
CrossFit and the community around it have given my life new purpose. I have built friendships and relationships that will last me for the rest of my life. On a daily basis I am in awe of the effects CrossFit has had on people’s lives. Whether it seeing a mother who couldn’t do a pull up when she started crush Fran a year later or a guy who has never lifted weights before now snatching 135lbs. I am constantly amazed at what people are able to do through hard work and perseverance.
I look forward to being part of each member at CFMH journey to better health and fitness.
